About Evans Grove

Evans Grove is a 958-acre grove in the Kings River Watershed region situated between 4,752 - 7,676 feet elevation at 36.78758°N. It is part of the Evans Complex and managed by Giant Sequoia National Monument/Sequoia National Forest. The grove is located in the upper drainages of Redwood, Windy Gulch, and Evans Creeks in the South Fork of the Kings River watershed. Most of Evans Grove was heavily logged prior to 1920 and many old growth sequoias were felled. However, outstanding old growth still remains in a portion of the grove and it is home to notable sequoias like the Evans Tree and Flying Buttress Tree.
